Hello Frances Sorry but I don't have a James McFarlane so far in my research. I really have very little information on my two Mcfarlane (and variant spellings) lines, just the people mentioned in my earlier messages. It is possible that your James could be connected, perhaps a nephew of either my Margaret or Martha (if he married in 1831 he is probably a bit young to be a brother). If your James died 1855 or later, have you had a look at his death certificate (1855 to 1875 + 1881 + 1891 available on film through the LDS - films for deaths for the year for the whole county - much better value than ordering individual certificates from Edinburgh) - this should give the names of his parents, his age etc. Good luck with your research Lesley Instone Invercargill NZ > -----Original Message----- > From: Maddox [SMTP:chkfran@gulftel.com] > Sent: Tuesday, 28 September 1999 03:27 > To: Lesley M Instone > Subject: Re: McFarlane > > Hi Lesley, > I may have corresponded with you before RE: McFarlane but not sure.
