Their respective parents were Thomas ROWAT, Steel Smelter and Bethia ROWAT m.s. BLACK and William HAIR Steel Smelter and Elizabeth HAIR m.s. McCALL. Eliza Bagnall was the witness for this couple. There are 6 children mentioned. Ages rage from 50 down to 25 yrs, He is the son of David, a Farmer ...Mother unknown. I have in 1867 Lanark, Scotland. on Nov 8th, the Death of Janet Liddell, daughter of Wm Jarvie, Blacksmith and Janet Jarvie M/s Craig,. Janet was the widow of Thomas Liddell a farmer Also I have the Death of Jean Campbell, in 1884, whose parents were George Liddell , farmer,and Janet Liddell. I have a John LIDDEL that was born in Paisley. Birth date unknown at this time. He married a Jean CAMERON in 1823. She was born in 1802 so there is a possibility that he was born around the same time. They had a family of 10 children. The last child was born in 1840. I mainly searched for Macaulays and have recently started looking for ancestors of my Great Grandmother Mary Orr(1904) who married James Macaulay, which is how i came across your message(this strand of my family aslo descend from Dumbartionshire). However, I'd not be surprised if there was an earlier link considering that Kirkintilloch and Cumbernauld (Village) theirselves are only 6 1/2 mls apart and they are after all contiguous Parishes. Indeed Braes of Yeat (Yetts) where Robert Hailed from, and Auchenkiln, where he stayed after his marriage, are only 3 mls apart. Regards Les

I have John ROWAT b 25 February 1793 Campsie, Stirlingshire, and that his parents were David ROWAT b 10 September 1751 Shirva, Kirkintilloch and Mary STIRLING (records from OPR) We have that John ROWAT was married more than once, firstly to Agnes SCOTT apparently in 1814 and there are children of the marriage.
