    3. In an offlist post Les has given me further information that I have found has worked. Thanks to Les for his explanation. Through my earlier stupidity I thought I was looking for an alphabetical list rather than consider the possibilities that the family name I typed in the search field might be a daughter who had married. Maybe this experience will help others. There is however a query http://www.archive.org/stream/scottishrecordso12scotuoft#page/n7/mode/2up In the above record I find WALKER Jean spouse to Gavin ROWAT in Stainhouse. Its a Register of Testaments so perhaps someone can explain why this would be. Present legislation requires a maiden female to alter her will on marriage, or, to put it another way, a marriage revokes a former Will in the case of both parties. Is the reference to "Stainhous" or "Stainhouse" the present day Stenhouse Muir? Bearing in mind the WALKER interest in another thread perhaps others will be, in this. Janet

    1. [DUNB] JOHN STARK of Greenyards 1781
    2. John Scott
    3. Hi List, I have found a Testement entry in 1781 for a JOHN STARK, farmer in Greenyards in the parish of Cumbernauld, and wonder if this is the same person who married Mary McVey in 1729 and had a son Andrew in 1734. Any help in finding deaths / burials for John and Mary, or anybody with this couple on their tree would be great. This is part of my sister in laws tree that I am helping her with. Thanks Daphne New Zealand.

    3. Hi Janet > I've spent a half an hour or so but didn't find what the search suggested > was there under the names I searched; the pages dont seem to match up > with "Leaf" Nos. There is a bug reporting feature to it. When you search for something it comes up with all those found each refering to the Leaf in which it is found. Of course the Leaf No. doesn't match with the page number as, prior to page 1., you have the cover, frontsheet and pages i to whatever; all of which have been copied and have a leaf number. If you click on the Leaf number for your search it will take you to the relevant page and whatever you've searched for will be highlighted. So this is not a 'Bug.' Remember that if you searched for 'Horn' it would throw up Horn, Horne, Thorn, Thorne, Horner etc. Hope this helps. He moved to Campsie Stirling with his family and his brother John (bc 1776 in Kirkintilloch). I thought that the parents of the two brothers might be David Gray & Janet Kenibrugh but although both brothers are in the 1851 census I haven't been able to locate a death certificate for either.
