Hoping to find further information regarding Henry Crichton monk of Dunfermline and later Abbot of Paisley (abt 1459-1471). Especially interested in whether there were any family ties between Henry and William Crichton, the latter became chancellor and took possesion of Edinburgh Castle around 1438-40....I believe William Crichton of the family who held large estates in the Lothians? Abbot Henry Crichton started the rental roll in Dunbartonshire in 1460. Thanks Janice
Brian, With no death of Thomas Alexander nor Jean Martin (other surname Christie) in Scotland one must assume they settled elsewhere. Same applies to the 1928 birth although a 1964 marriage could be a grandson or not related at all. 192.com has a couple of Thomas Alexander Martin's who are grouped in the age 38 category, likely the same person. You can always pay 192.com pull their telephone numbers and call providing they haven't moved since 2005. There isn't much more you can do. Cheers!!! Hi Ruth, They are not on yet and no plans as we see for near future. They still to have post 1864 B M D records online, when registration started. You can look at Ireland B M D indexes from 1864 at your local, LDS research centre. BlankHi all At long last some Roman Catholic records have been added to Scotlands People http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. Births and Baptisms have currently been added. Regards Les "Catholic Parish Registers Catholic Parish Registers comprise records of births and baptisms; marriages; confirmations; deaths and burials; communicants; sick calls; status animarum; converts; first confessions and seat rents. The records cover all Scottish parishes in existence by 1855 – before the introduction of civil registration; the records of the main Catholic cemeteries in Edinburgh and Glasgow and the records of the RC Bishopric of the Forces, which records all sacramental events for British service men and women serving in the armed forces worldwide. Approximately 700 registers have survived, the earliest dating from 1703, but most records only beginning in the 30 years following the relaxation of legislation against Catholics in the 1790s."

The pre 1855 MI's survey that was done in 1969 for Renton, Bonhill or Alexandria churchyards does not show any stone for a James Douglas and Mary Wallace. Jay
Years ago we went to Renton and walked through the churchyard at Millburn. We found the church closed and many of the tombstones were vandalized. Some tombstones were broken off and were leaning against the wall. It was impossible to know who had been buried where. We weren't able to find my husband's great grandfather's grave. I do have an old postcard of the church. Gail In a message dated 09/30/2009 12:16:42 A.M. Pacific Daylight Time, dunbartonshire-genweb-request@rootsweb.com writes: Today's Topics: 1. Milburn Churchyard was the only cemetery in Renton. Nearby is Alexandria Churchyard and also Bonhill Churchyard. All within a mile of each other. Jay
