    1. Dunclutha Helensburgh?
    2. Tony & Barb Vellturo
    3. Hello to you all, I have been tracking a family in Glasgow that I *believe* to be relatives (long story, but the son of James Edward TAYLOR ended up in Peru, which is where my great grandfather Alexander TAYLOR was born and there are similar names in the families). In one of the Glasgow directories (1874) James Edward was listed as doing business in Glasgow, but his home address was given as Dunclutha Helensburgh. Does anyone know what that may refer to - I assume it means he lived in Helensburgh, but what is Dunclutha? I also believe he died soon after that time, as his widow is in Bothwell in 1881 as an "annuitant" age 36. Is it likely that he left a will? If he died in Helensburgh how can I find a will and/or a burial place? Thanks for any help. Barbara Vellturo Vermont, USA

    1. New to list
    2. Hello my name is Michael MacFarlane and I am new to this list. My MacFarlane Ancestor emigrated to the US in 1848. I have my genealogy traced back 2 generations before this emigration to Perth. The path stops cold here. The reason I feel this has happened is because this is the exact time when many Macfarlanes fled to Perth from Arrochar when the Clan Lands were forfeit. Also because of the time and trade, and names of my known and proven ancestors I have reason to believe that I am related to the Blacksmiths of Arrochar. I have a lead from a grave I found in Ballyhennan near tarbet. My question: Does anyone have any information on the Macfarlanes of Arrochar especiall MacFarlane Blacksmiths of Arrochar/Tarbet? Any help will be appreciated. Le gach deagh dhurachd, Michael MacFarlane, Executive Vice President Clan MacFarlane Society, Inc. http://www.macfarlane.org http://www.celticsoul.com

    2. For more details, and sample stories from this project please visit: http://www.celticsoul.com Please forward this message to anybody who might be interested. Call for Stories: Do you have a story, anecdote or article about your heritage for the upcoming book "Chicken Soup for the Celtic Soul"®? We are excited and delighted to be collecting stories for another in this wonderful series by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen. This will be a book of heartwarming, motivational, and inspiring stories in any way related to things past, present and future connected to the Celts or Celtic culture, e.g. Scots, Irish, Welsh, Cornish, Breton, Manx and their descendants throughout the world. Chicken Soup stories are about 1250 words long, this works out to be 3 - 6 published book pages. What a Chicken Soup Story IS It is an inspirational, true story about ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Chicken Soup stories are personal and are filled with vivid images. In some stories, the reader feels that he or she is actually "there" in the scene with the people involved. Chicken Soup stories have heart...but also something extra...that element that makes us all feel more helpful, more connected, more thankful, more passionate, and better about life in general. Chicken Soup stories often end with a "punch"...creating emotion rather than talking about it. The stories should leave the reader with one or more of the following: Goosebumps or butterflies, heartfelt tears, an "aaaaah" feeling, a good belly laugh, or a more exalted reason to feel alive. If your story is one of the 101 chosen, you will be paid US$300.00 If it is used or not you will retain the rights. With over 30 million "Chicken Soup" books in print, this is an excellent opportunity to get worldwide attention to the stories of the celts! Teaches a lesson by showing us the situation, not telling us what happened and what the lesson is supposed to be. Gives the reader a clear picture of the characters in the story through vivid details. Is believable. Ends with a bang, not a whimper.
