    1. Re: Where in Dunbartonshire is Milligs?
    2. T.M.
    3. Thank you very much for solving this puzzle for me. The family I am looking into was from Helensburg and in my research I had come across Milligs as a place of birth, marriage or residence. One person happened to be a miller. When I read your reply, it just made a lot of things fit into place as far as the family I am researching and where they came from. Thanks very much! 3. I need SKS to do a lookup on the 1861 or 1871 census for me. I am looking for a Duncan CAMERON and his wife Margaret MAITLAND. They were possibly living in Lanark, Ayrshire, or Dunbartonshire during this time. Duncan was listed as a gamekeeper on his son Robert CAMERON's 1880 marriage extract. Robert CAMERON was born circa 1860 in Girvan, Ayrshire, Sct. I need to find out age and place of birth for Duncan and Margaret and if Robert had any siblings. Help please! TIA. 1. Where in Dunbartonshire is Milligs?
    2. T.M.
    3. I recently have obtained copies of some birth/marriage records from the parish of Row. There was reference made to Miln of Milligs and also of a place called Millig in a couple of the birth/marriage records. One of the fathers of the people in question was a miller.. I think that is where the "Miln of Milligs" comes in. I have checked a map of Dunbartonshire and have no idea where this place would be located, but I am thinking it must be somewhere in the Row/Helensburg area.. or am I wrong? Anyone have any idea? T. 1. Need help with lodging in Dumbarton
    2. M. Elkheir
    3. Hello, My name is Cheryl Colquhoun, I am a University student from Australia needing help! My brother, sister and I will soon be in beautiful Scotland tracing our ancestry (as you can see, our last name is Colquhoun), the problem is, we don't really know where to begin! We know that the Colquhoun clan originated from somewhere near Dumbarton, and that there is some sort of manor known as the House of Luss. We know a few other tidbits, but we really need help! We are very unsure of cheap accommodation in Dunbarton, as that sort of local information is not readily available here in North Queensland. If anyone knows some more information, or can point us in the right direction regarding both accommodation and family history - we would greatly appreciate it. If anyone can help, please e-mail me: Cheryl.Colquhoun@jcu.edu.au Thank you for you time Cheryl Colquhoun

    3. Hello Folks, I am a relative newbie to the Family Tree business, have been reading the posts for a while. Am trying to find more information on my father's side of the family - what I have to date is: 1. Arthur ELTON married Mary MARSHALL 14th Dec, 1838 Cumbernauld, Dunbarton.(No dates of birth or death on Arthur) 2. Mary MARSHALL born about 1817 Cumbernauld, Dunbarton (from IGI) 3. Son Arthur ELTON (I refer to him as Arthur 2) born 18th Sept, 1849, Cumbernauld, Dunbarton married 4. Margaret Ellen MILLER in 1876 in Victoria, Australia. Arthur 2 obviously emigrated but have no idea yet when or on which ship. I have details on the family in Australia (so if anyone over there is researching the same family - just holler and I'll send the info over). I gleaned the start off info from my Dad's (John Robert ELTON) sister and she seemed to think the family came from Coatbridge. Mum & Dad visited a umpteen removed cousin in Rutherglen back in 1954 - she had a lot of the family tree but Mum can't remember where she put the information she brought back to Aus... Would love to hear from anyone searching the same family or any rellies over there. Regards, Vicki Simpson from 'Beautiful One Day Perfect the Next' Gold Coast, Queensland. simpson@ircnet.com.au

    3. Greetings I am interested in finding out more about the FERRIER family who stayed at Craigend Cottage, Cardross, in the late 1700s. William Ferrier married Mary FISHER in Cardross 0n 25 Dec 1784. They had at least 9 children. William is described as a farmer. Does Craigend Cottage still exist? Does the farm? When my ancestor Mary Ferrier (m Robert Taylor) died in 1870 she died in the house in which she was born, Craigend Cottage, although it was her son-in-law, John ROBB who then lived there. Any information would be welcome, thanks Fergus Boyle
