    1. MURRAY
    2. Heather
    3. Still tracking down information on some of my elusive Murray's. I know that Hugh and Euphemia(Munro) Murray arrived before the 1861 census as they appear there in the village of Renton. I am looking for some of Hugh's siblings that may have come to the area for work earlier on. I have found an older sister, Catherine, married to James Fraser of Kirkcaldy, Fife; but don't know when they actually arrived. On my website I have a page of photos that are taken in photography studios around the area. Some are: Dumbarton, Alexandria, Clydebank, Pollokshawa, Hamilton, Stirling and Glasgow. Take a look at the site - maybe you will recognize a photo. I really have no idea who most of them are. Thanks. Heather, Canada http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sparrow

    1. McPhail/Drummond; McPhail/McFarlane
    2. Des & Beryl Davidson
    3. This is my first listing at this site, and I would welcome responses from descendants of the families who may connect with mine. ARCHIBALD MCPHAIL, was the oldest child of John McPhail and Elizabeth Drummond and was born Killen Perth (I think) in 1812. His siblings were Donald (1814) John (1816) Peggy (1819) Magret (1821) and Angus (1823). Archibald married Jane (Jean) MCFARLANE of Tarbert Dunbartonshire in 1846 and they had 4 children John McMurrick1847,George 1849, Andrew 1851,Agnes Smith 1852., all born at Tarbert or Luss. Jane McFarlane McPhail died aged 30 in 1854 .(Luss or Tarbert) Archibald(42) and sons John (16) and George(14), emigrated to Australia in 1863 , and Andrew and Agnes Smith followed in 1878. Are there any descendants of Archibald McPhail's siblings ( Donald, John, Peggy, Magret, or Angus) out there? Also Jane MCFARLANE may have had a brother, George who was a Registrar of the Poor, Closeburn? and died aged 92 , in 1924. I have a copy of a tribute written for him by Rev C Rolland Ramsay, when George (unmarried) died. Were there other Mc Farlane siblings to Jane?. Her parents were George MacFarlane and Agnes Smith. There may be a McFarlane link with a place called "Coilah" at Tarbert. Can anyone link with this family? Thanks , Beryl (Great great granddaughter of Archibald and Jane McPhail)

    3. I think I sent the first posting to the wrong address. Hi to all, This is my first posting to a mailing list. Can anyone from the Dalmuir area tell me what kind of building was at the address of 9 Pattison Street Dalmuir in 1907. My grandmother was born there and I am curious as to what the building looked like. Her name was Annie Couper McLachlan, born 5 May 1907, to Charles McMurchy McLachlan and Annie Couper. The family (except the eldest son, who followed the next year) emigrated to South Australia in 1921 in the SS Borda. Regards John Nicholson
