Hello listers To gain entry to the MI index, you must first click on the indices link. This will take you to an index. Once you have found ancestors that interest you, you have to e-mail the web owner and he will send you the gravestone inscription, free of charge. I believe that this service is for pre 1855 MI's. That is indeed very sad news about Ray Hood. I have corresponded with Ray by email, and of course, have enjoyed his wonderful Clydebank web site. I'm sure we are all sending our thoughts and prayers to Ray's wife Denise, and his beautiful children. Thank you Chris for letting us know, God Bless, Debbie & Chris Derrick, B.C.

Has any subscriber knowledge of, or connection to, the family of Daniel BROWN baptised Rothesay, Buteshire on 1 April 1814, married Catherine CRAWFORD at Greenock 23 July 1841 and resident in Dumbarton from circa 1850 until at least 1891 when he was recorded at Census as still working as a piermaster at age 77. Five sons of Daniel & Catherine are known, Alexander, Daniel, Archibald Crawford, George and William. My connection is through Archibald Crawford BROWN who emigrated to Australia in 1879. I regret having to send this information to the site but if anyone knew or corresponded with Ray Hood and his Clydebank site I have sad news. Ray passed away suddenly after a short illness on Sept.6,2000 after a short illness. It was totally unexpected and very sad. There is a memorial service for him on Sept. 11 in LaHabra, Calif. His site is really wonderful and he spent so much time on it. Loved everything Scottish and especially Bankies since being born and raised in the Faifley, Clydebank. I never met him personally but if anyone needs more information please ask me. xanadue@gte.net

Hi I'm trying to trace some elusive MacGregor's that come from Dunbartonshire - Jamestown. Lewes MacGregor, who was a Shipwright - would have been married (don't know who to at this stage) in the 1880's. His son John MacGregor (born 1907) is my lost father-in-law, whom we are trying to trace. Any relation to your MacGregor's? I'm looking for relatives or details on my ggfather, George Macmillan, believed to be born in Bonhill. He 'emigrated' to Liverpool, where he had at least 2 children, Mary and Frank. He may have married a Wilson, as Mary (b 1904) had this as one of her names. He died about 1934 but I don't have a birth date or year of marriage. Any family up there or anywhere else?
