This project has been underway for several years, and some of the indexes have been published by the participating Family History Societies. These publications are not free, but the income from their sale contibutes to the cost to run the societies (which are not-for profit charities). It seems that there is a definite duplication of effort with these records.
Hi listers...I have finally updated the Dunbartonshire GenWeb site and would invite any suggestions or additions to make it better.... For some reason the test size looks so large to me and I don't know if it's my browser.....would someone reply to this and let me know if the writing looks "normal" or "large" to you. http://www.rootsweb.com/~sctdnb/index.htm A reminder to those of you who have entries on the SURNAME INTEREST list...if your e-mail address has changed, please let me know and include the surnames that you have submitted. Thanks so much, Barbara Lewis, Dunbartonshire mailing list and Home page host
Allan, John Allan and Jane Morson are listed as being married 09 AUG 1823 Campsie, Stirling, Scotland. But it would help if we knew his (James) spouses name. It's James' marriage you're looking for I do believe. Cheers!!! Sheena asks why off list posting. Its easy with Rootsweb lists in that if one hits just "Reply", the reply only goes to the poster. Posting to "Reply All" gets it to the poster and the list. I'm sure a lot know this, but when one is subscribed to Yahoogroups as well its too easy to overlook the requirement. Janet

Dear Listers: Just discovered last evening that some of my DEMPSTER relatives were killed in the CLYDEBANK BLITZ of 1941. Found their names on the Honor Roll: GILBERT DEMPSTER, 54 - 60 Radnor Rd - Sewing factory worker EUPHEMIA DEMPSTER, 54 - 60 Radnor Rd - wife of Gilbert MARY DEMPSTER, 57 - 60 Radnor Rd - widow of ALEXANDER DEMPSTER (was movie house manager) - sister-in-law to GILBERT DEMPSTER. MARY BEST BRADLEY DEMPSTER, 29 - 60 Radnor Rd - daughter of ALEXANDER DEMPSTER and MARY DEMPSTER. I read some history on the Blitz and DALNOTTAR CEMETERY was mentioned as where some of the casualties were buried. Does anyone on the list have access to the burial records that can do a lookup to see if these relatives are buried there? Also would like to correspond with anyone on the list who might be related to these DEMPSTERS originally from the DUNTOCHER area. Old Kilpatrick is the Parish that Clydebank is in. There is also an Old Kilpatrick Village in the Parish of Old Kilpatrick. Clydebank Terrace is in Clydebank. Interesting. My paternal line has a HORN married William ROWAT I don't know when either were born but they may have been married ca 1775 when their first son was born. I'll bear it in mind. You might like to bear in mind that there's quite a bit of intermarriage in these lines. I have a Margaret HORN married 1782 Alexander ROWAT.
