    1. BARRIE
    2. Verlan Shorey
    3. Hi Listers: I wish to trace my Barrie ancestry. In 1853, a Barrie family (all or part) of brothers Samuel and John, and a half sister Mary Barrie came to Lower Canada (now Quebec, Canada). Their father was John Barrie. Mary's mother was Mary Warden. Mary was either 5 or 11 when she came to Lower Canada. Mary married a Pete Devine and lived in the US (died in 1936 in Chicago). Samuel was born December 10, 1828 and died in 1904. Samuel married a Jean/Jane Warden from Lower Canada and raised a family in the Huntingdon area. Samuel's obit stated he was a native of Dunbartonshire, Scotland. John also married and raised a family in the Huntingdon area of Quebec. Besides the family history I would also like to establish contact with existing relatives. Thank you, Verlan Shorey

    1. LOOK UP 1891 AND 1901 CENSUS PLEASE
    2. PAMELA GROVES
    3. Hello List, I have been looking for my Great Grandfathers brother Archibald Fergus Campbell. I found his birth in the June quarter of 1875. He was christened on June 16, 1875 in Walker, Northumberland, England. He was the son of Andrew Campbell and Elizabeth Fergus. He was there in the 1881 Census but missing from 1891 and 1901 Census. I have looked for a death but can't find that either? Is it possible that he went to live or visit someone in Scotland? His father and mother were both born in Scotland and still had relatives there? Thank you in advance for any information I might receive. Could some kind soul please look up the 1891 and 1901 census for him please in the Dumbarton area. As he had Uncles and Cousins living there still. Kind Regards Pamela J Groves

    2. Have gotten one of the 1855 Birth lookups done, am posting the results here. Lorna, here are your CAMPBELLS and McKELLARs. MegG in OK. James CAMPBELL wasn't born in 1855, he was born most likely in 1854, so the registration isn't in this film. The IGI entry for his birth in Milbrae, Roseneath was a Patron Submission, they probably guessed his birth year as 1855 by using census hits and back-calculating. If you'd like to see who submitted his name and what the relation was, order this film from any FHC - Patron Submission film #471864, see page 64 or ordinance #65086. It was submitted in Arizona, USA. Christina McKELLAR born Roseneath entry #7 on June 15, 1855 at Annfield House, Kilcraiggan to John McKELLAR, Joiner, 30y born Duke of Argyll's Office & Mary McKELLAR ms FERGUSON, 27y born Kilniniver? 2. If you go into : www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk and look at the birth of their son Walter 9 June 1857 Cardross. It will give you the date of the marriage of Walter and Margaret. Then look at that marriage and it will show the parents of both of them. With the remaining credits, you could get the marriage or deaths of the parents etc. John -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: 30 April 2006 01:01 To: [email protected] Subject: [DUNB] COLQUHOUNS in Cardross Looking for the parents and siblings of Walter Colquhoun and his wife Margaret Cuthbertson. 1. 1855 Registration data, a goldmine !!!
    2. Greenwood
    3. The COLQUHOUN birth John needs to see is the 1855 birth of Anne. It will give amazing details of this family. Date and place of the marriage of the parents, age of parents at this birth, number of siblings both alive or deceased at this birth, date, place and whether or not those births were registered for both parents, occupation of the father, plus residence at the birth and time of day of the birth. Informant was usually the father, but sometimes the mother, so you get to view their signature. The Family History Center near me has the Dunbartonshire 1855 events, all births, marriages and deaths for all parishes including Cardross [parish 494]. They only have 1855 though. I'll gladly lookup any events listmembers have for 1855. Send me a name, a parish and an expected date. The IGI will give you guidance on births and marriages. ScotlandsPeople will get Index hits on deaths for that year, the film at the FHC is the SAME image as you'd get from them. Please don't spend a lot of cash getting 1855 events when the FHC here has them all [for 1855]. Make SURE the subject line of any queries indicates Dunbartonshire Lookup to catch my attention. The 1857 birth of Walter won't give details on the marriage of the parents, that question was dropped from 1856 through 1860, they added that question back permanently in 1861, so you'd have to check Janet's birth in 1861 for the parent's marriage data. I'll be back at the FHC on Monday, so I'll get the 1855 one and send it to the List. Meg Greenwood / Oklahoma USA [yes its tornado season here, I'll be less jumpy in June, just in time to get fried, broiled and crisped.] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Walter Colquhoun, m.
