Hi Audrey, Are you related to Anne from Blue Mts of NSW? She is related to the Jarvies and Walkers. She told me that one of my great uncles, William McKenzie married a Walker that is related to this line of Jarvies. She is on this list. Hi I am trying to trace one my Relatives Alexander Gillies. He was born in 1851 in either Lochgilphead or Glasgow various sources give either as a birth place. I have Alexander up until the 1871 census living at various addresses in Dumbarton. In 1875 he marries Catherine Stewart, aged 19, in Dumbarton. At this point I cannot seem to trace him or his wife. I have managed to trace his wife’s death in 28/10/1926 in North Leith Parish, Edinburgh. Alexander is listed as Husband, occupation Brass Finisher. However Catherine’s Daughter Helen Galloway is stated as informant and usual residence as 2 Levenford Terrace, Dumbarton. Aged 70 on death I have manage to get the marriage certificate of Helen Gillies and George Galloway from 1913 in Newington Parish Edinburgh, Helen is Described as widow and also known as Oliphant Aged 44 but the parents are all wrong. I also obtained the marriage certificate from 1892 in Newington, Edinburgh to James Oliphant where the parents are the same as the second marriage and Helen is stated as Margaret Helen Gillies Aged 23. I cannot find any Margaret or Helen Gillies that may tie in with this person on the death certificate and cannot find Alexander and Catherine on the 1881, 1891, 1901 census. Does anyone have a link to them? Thanks in advance David -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Dear listers, Thanks for letting me know that my postings are coming through. I was wondering as I hadnt heard from anyone. That puts my mind at rest as I am new to list. I guess it just means no one is related to me. I have acquired some entries while searching Scotspeople and will send on information on my extras. Jen
Thanks John for writing, I have already been acquiring those certificates daily. With the name Campell, there are so many. I was hoping some MI's existed that would identify more of them in a easier selective way.
