Hi Everyone, I have had PC problems in the past few months and therefore felt I should repost my interests as I lost a lot of email I was keeping for reference or planning to respond to. Dear Ruth I have some Pat(t)erson family from Dumbarton and Renfrew but they only go back to about 1815. I have a John Paterson married to Elizabeth Andrew. They were married in 1834 in High Church Renfrew. Presumably that is where she came from. They moved to Dumbarton and had Robert Patterson in 1842. He married a Mary Cairney in 1869 and had 4 Children, Agnes, Mary, Robert and Maggie. I don't know if this is familiar to you or Eric Regards Stephen Nicoll -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Ruth Enns Sent: 11 October 2006 16:31 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [DUNB] New Kilpatrick/old Kilpatrick Do y ou have any records that go as far back as the 1800s in Dunbaton, Dumbarton under the name PATERSON? Hi Nancy You can download a COPY of the certificate from the General records Office Scotland sorry don't have the full address but if you do a search of GRO Scotland that will get it for you. It will cost you six pounds to do your search, for that you get 30 credits. Search the birth records for your rellie the results will cost you 1 credit to view. Once you have viewed indexed, and you want to see the actual birth record it will cost you five credits, and then you can print same certificate out, so you will still have quite a few credits left to get any other certs. you need. Hope I have explained this clearly for you. (I know how to do it but not so good at the explaining side)!!!! Anyway try it think you will love this site. You cannot get a copy of a birth certificate for that date online. Someone would need to go to GRO Edinburgh or Park Circus Glasgow. They only go up to 1905 online with the 100 year closure. Hello all, I am new to the list. Yesterday I received the death certificate for Eileen Elizabeth LANGDON McSweeney England. This states she was born 08 Feb. 1913 Old Kilpatrick Dumbarton. I would like to send for a copy of her birth certificate, but have no idea where to start. Hopefully someone on the list and guide me. Also, if there are directories available could someone please look for Lizzie or Ernest about 1913? Eileen's parents were Lizzie LANGFORD Langdon and Ernest Robert Henry LANGDON. He father was a Navy man and died in 1916 aboard the HMAS Australia. At the time of his death Lizzie was back living in Fulham. Ernest and Lizzie were married 1908 in Fulham, England. Parents of the bride and groom, John Langford and Robert Rockett Langdon. Children of Ernest and Lizzie: 1909 Kathleen Fulham, England 1911 Hugh Frederick, Fulham, England 1913 Eileen Elizabeth, Old Kilpatrick Dumbarton, Scotland In 1913 would it be likely Eileen would have been born in a hospital or at home? Eileen died 1999 Fulham, England. If someone can help fill me in on where the Langdon's lived in 1913 and for how long I would appreciate it. Also I wonder if their home is still standing. Thank you very much for help. Sincerely, Nancy Nancy Langdon Webb
Goodevening, I have returned to my WILLIAMSON Lineand have a problem. Walter Williamson b 1707 of Mains Old kilpatrick married Barbara Colquhoun 24 April 1732 Also Patrick WILLIAMSON b 1672 of Old kilpatrick married Janet Colquhoun 1676 of Mains Oldkilpatrick I have tried to find the connection between these two couples and - Humphray WILLIAMSON married 31 July 1773 to Grizal Connal in Old kilpatrick. As I have little understanding of the area that would have been covered by Old kilpatrick at the dates in question or what size community existed,I don't know whether two WILLIAMSON - COLQUHOUN marriages would be likelyor is a mistake . I have looked for a connection but have failed but feel if the community was small there should be one.I cannot even find children of the marriages using Scotland's people and IGI. If someone could help me try and sort this out or suggest how I can proceed I would be very grateful. Kind regards, Sue H.
Hi list: I am looking for information on the family of William Menzies, born around 1777 in Baldernock, Stirling. He married someone with the last name of Thomson who died prior to 1841. They had at least two children. Agnes was born around 1827 in Cumbernauld. Jean or Jane was born on January 24, 1819 in Cumbernauld. Does anyone know if they had any other children? Jean married Peter Brown and they had 7 children: Jean, Agnes, William, Peter, Elizabeth, Martha, and James. She also had an illegitimate child (I assume) named John Wright. I have very little information on Agnes Menzies. When the 1851 census took place she was at the residence of her father which included her sister Jean and her family and William Menzies's sister Mary who was 79 years old.
