    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. I show 2 emails to you, one asking for additional information and the 2nd is after reviewing your forwarded information and comparing the DNA results. Here is what I wrote: "8/12/10 Hi Lois, Since your brother isn't appearing on any of our L3 (Lineage 3) Dunbar match pages, the genetic relationship probably goes back further than the Middle Ages. My only suggestion would be to upgrade your brother to 67 markers and encourage the other Robertson's, etc who've only tested to 37 markers to upgrade their test to see just how close you're all related. Many mutations occur in that last set of markers. I've told Tom Dunbar (Clan Dunbar Genealogist and Line Leader for Lineage 3) to keep a close eye on the Robertson's who are showing up as matches with the L3 men and maybe we'll get a match that's closer then GD5 @ 67." The major problem with emailing is it can be interpreted in many ways. What one person writes can be completely misread by the receiver. I apologize if you interpreted my email as "disavowed any relationship". When the DNA says there's a genetic relationship between two people, I never "disavow" that relationship. DNA doesn't lie. I can only evaluate the closeness of the relationship based on the mutations between the matches. Since the DNA shows a relationship with the Robertson/Robinson surname, Tom Dunbar has been very active in trying to find the paper trail between the three surnames. Should you have any information connecting the surnames via a paper trail, please send it to me. Our Lineage 3 Dunbar men along with the Robertson/Robinson's would very much like to know. I see that you have recently upgraded your brother to 67 markers and it's now being processed. Let's hope that your brother's DNA comes back as a match with our Lineage 3 Dunbar's. Respectfully, Debra Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
