In working through my Conkey/Cowan/Dunbar line I was given the following information: James Conkey married Elizabeth Cowan in 1781 in Pelham Massachusetts. The information said that Elizabeth's parents were James and Molley Dunbar. Molley's parents were listed as Josiah Dunbar and Mary. The problem I ran into was that Josiah's wife Mary died in 1751 which was the same year that Molley was said to have been born. According to the Bridgewater deaths, Josiah had a daughter die 3 January 1757 and his wife died 16 January 1757. I just could not make this all fit. As I was delving back into this again I noticed on the picture of the gravestone I had for James Cowan's wife it said "Mary wife of James Cowan" died in 1828 at 62 years of age. Doing some quick math I realized that theoretically she would have been born about 1766. Going back into the Bridgewater births I found that Jesse Dunbar (Josiah's brother) and his wife Mary had a daughter Polly in 1766. Granted she would have married young, but not unheard of. Any thoughts? Thanks for any input you can share. Stuart Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
