To break my brick wall I'm seeking information on Isabella DIAMOND who married Robert DUNBAR (1787? - died before 1884) Robert DUNBAR was a Scottish soldier. His army movements before and at the time of his son's birth suggest he might have met or married Isabella in Canada, Ireland, Scotland or England. I have searched army marriage lists without success; they may, of course not married. Son Robert DUNBAR was born in England c.1807. He married Catherine MCLAREN 2 March 1828, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, and I have found children James b.1829 (my g.g.grandfather, married Jane JACKSON), Isabella b.1830, Daniel McLaren, b.1833, Robert b.1837, Mary b.1844, all born in Glasgow. Robert was a tailor. James b.1829 was in the merchant navy and also the Royal Navy. He married in Plymouth, Devon, where he fathered two children to my knowledge, Robert b.1862 and Catherine b.1856. He later abandoned his family and died in London. Some of the descendants remain in Plymouth. There is a member-submitted lineage in Mormon records which is incorrect in that a Scottish-born Robert has been given the parents Robert DUNBAR and Isabella DIAMOND. Any help on the above would be much appreciated Patrick R. L. Dunbar Organiser, Dunbar Family Society www.dunbarfamilysociety.org.uk (world-wide Dunbar research) www.debbiedunbar.net (Art pages)
