This appeared in the June 4, 1901 issue of the Rockland (Maine) Courier-Gazette in the "In Social Circles" column: "Miss Mabel Dunbar, formerly of this city, has recently graduated from Miss Norton's school in Portland, and has had the honor of being valedictorian. She will teach a kindergarten school in Portland during the summer, and on the reopening of Miss Norton's school will become a permanent member of the faculty. Miss Dunbar's success in her chosen line of work is the bearing out of the excellent promise she gave while a member of the Rockland High school, and will be hailed with pleasure by her many friends in this section." I subsequently found a marriage record for a Mabel Dunbar of Portland to Vilas Daugharty of Ruston La California on November A4, 1902.
