Robert Dunbar of Hingham, Massachusetts, captured at the Battle of Dunbar in 1650 and indentured to the Saugus Iron Works as we refer to it today, is not Ninian's son. Sir Ninian's son Robert died in the 1660s, if memory serves me, in Scotland. Recent DNA reserch has indicated Robert is connected to a family in the area of Wigtown, Scotland, but parents remain unknown. I have a Keziah Whiton, daughter of Samuel & Margaret (Tower) Whiton married to Stephen Dunbar, grandson of "original" Robert. They had a daughter I have listed as Kezia (died in infancy), then I have another daughter Kezia listed again. I guess Keziah could have dumped Stephen and married Ralph later (or before Stephen). Or, maybe the daughter's name is also Keziah, not Kezia, and she's the one who married Ralph. I swear that, if and when I retire, I'll probably wind up going thru "the tree" 8 hours a day. It's addicting.. anyway, nice to "meet you". Wm. "Skip" Dunbar Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Here is the little I do know: She was born in 1815, in PA. She lived in E. Penn Twp., Northampton Co., PA at the time of her marriage on 16 Jul 1828 to Benjamin Irvin (spelled Irwein in a German newspaper account of their marriage that I found). Prudence died on 22 April 1881 in Tioga Co., PA and is buried there. Their children were: John, Samuel, Martha, William, David L., Charles, Elizabeth, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander, James, Emeline (Emma). I have birth and death dates for most of these children and the extended line on Samuel (my gg-grandfather). If you know anything about Prudence's siblings and parents, please email me! I have had copies of the Chaplin book pertinent pages for a long time, and used them for my early research. At least on our part of the family, there are a number of errors in her book. I tried to contact her some time back, several years now, with no response. Be sure to use other documentation to augment what she has recorded if you begin to find discrepancies. The children of James known as John Dunbar who married Lucy Bliss and migrated westward from central MA to Brecksville, OH after the war of 1812 are all very interesting, I feel a book coming on...the more I research the more interesting they become!
