Coming in late on this inquiry and not having any connection at all with the Hetheringtons. But a quick Google of "Hetherington + violin" brings up a lot of hits. I'm not sure how common the surname is, but I would guess that it's an extended family with lots of musicians. I didn't look for e-mail addresses on these websites but you could probably find a way to contact one or more of them with some questions. Try your own search, but here's a sampling of what I found: Feargus Hetherington, violin soloist at a concert at the University of Glasgow two weeks ago http://www.gla.ac.uk:443/events/details.cfm?Event_Number=1718 with website at http://www.feargushetherington.com/start.htm Anthea Hetherington, a young Australian violinist http://www.darwinguitar.com/home/HTML/artists_yaca.htm David Hetherington, playing violin in a Canadian Broadcasting radio concert http://www.cbc.ca/insite/IN_PERFORMANCE_TORONTO/2002/12/11.html Then there was Simon Hetherington, playing double bass on the soundtrack of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back http://www.djangomusic.com/item_music.asp?id=R++++84295 There's a George Hetherington who is a conductor in the Newcastle area. http://www.nationalorchestraweek.org.uk/d1sunday1.html Cheers.
