    3. I have found what looks like the above wording from a marriage certificate dated 1908. Mary Nicholson was a cook there, aged 27. Is the name correct & is there any information that can be located about staff that worked there? Thanks in advance Barbara Keeping an eye out for Hunter, Laurie, Nicholson in Dumfries & Edinburgh for a friend.

    3. I have not viewed them, but I believe that the archives for the Royal Crichton are quite extensive.     3. Hi Barbara, Census records would be your best bet for staff working at the Institution, if she lived-in. There is information at:- http://freespace.virgin.net/john.williams1/croyalh.html. on the old Crichton Asylum opened in 1839, I think this must be the Institution you refer to.
