There is a series of books by Diana Gabaldon called the "Outlander" series and the main Scot calls his wife "Sassenach". She was a time traveler from England back to the 16th century but he uses the name as a term of endearment. This series of books about Scotland and also my Hannay castle at Sorbie prompted my visit from the USA last Spring. What a wonderful trip to a beautiful country. A Scot in a kilt could call me most anything and I would love it.
