My ggrandfather, Andrew M. MUIR, born in Halifax, Nova Scotia 1832, emigrated to Australia 1852/53, died there in 1871. The death certificate info given by a brother-in-law has the 2nd forename as "MacSherrar". Is "MacSherrar" a known Scottish name? Have not been able to find it. We feel that his name was more likely to have been "McJerrow", his mother's maiden name. The parents, Andrew & Jane, were from KKD & Ayrshire . 2nd forenames given to siblings: McJarrow to one sister, Gordon, maternal grandmother's maiden name to both a brother & a sister. Also used were Abercrombie & Fraser; have not as yet found a possible source for those, maybe names from the paternal side. Yvette, Canada
