I had records of their marriage and of their son's (my great great grandfather) birth but couldn't trace them on the 1851 census. I was dropped a line by a member, suggesting that I look again at the information that I had for more clues and, low and behold, I found that they were both from Orchardton. I have now traced them on the 1851 census, definitely them as all stats match, using the surname BRYSON Orchardton is in Rerrick Parish a flat coastal strip below a hill called Screel and between the Urr Estuary and Auchincairn and Balcary Bay. You should be able to find it on any good OS map. Have a look at _http://www.sypittdfs.freeola.com/Walks/Dumfries/hills/scrl/scrl-3.htm_ (http://www.sypittdfs.freeola.com/Walks/Dumfries/hills/scrl/scrl-3.htm) and you will find yourself looking down on Orcharton from the summit of Screel. I can offer you just three Bryson Memorials from the DGFHS MIs database (couldn't find a single BRYON) You could hardly get them further apart than Lanholm, Gretna and Stranraer. There has to be some more in between but we don't have them in the database as yet. None of them match your information but you may have other stuff that will link them. 1.
