    3. Please, ALL, before commenting further, check the Freecen site! Reference <Must concur with Rene. Why can't the Free Census Project work on 1801, <1811, 1831, 1861 or 1871. And re-do 1841, 1881, 1891, 1901 when the <rest are done. The project needs volunteers! I checked the site yesterday, and the only 100% completed counties were Bute, East Lothian and Cornwall, Devon being 92.3% finished - so there is much to do. Perhaps the ones criticising the site should lead the way in volunteering .... Regarding content. A published index sometimes gives the barest of information - Freecen permits you to extract family groups, so is the next-best thing to examining the original record. Regarding cost - remember, many involved in this hobby are on low incomes, or retired and on low pensions. For a large-scale study the purchasing of all relevant indexes would not be financially possible. Freecen is a godsend! Having worked on two parishes for Freecen, I hoping to do more during the coming winter - come on, who will join me? Pat(rick) R. L.
