Hi Leeona is this the right church? if so go to http://www.dumgal.gov.uk/services/depts/ei/lochken/index.asp?around click on map next to pic of church christine Balmaghie Church (see map) The churchyard is the burial place of three Covenanters: David Halliday of Mayfield, David Halliday of Glengap and George Short. The two Hallidays are buried in the same grave. All three were shot in 1685. Balmaghie is better known as the burial place of S.R. Crockett (1859-1914) the well-known author of "The Raiders" and "Dark o' the Moon" which were inspired by Galloway's history and landscapes. A memorial to Crockett stands on raised ground at the north end of Laurieston village.
