Hi everyone. Can anyone tell me if there is an index to death notices/obituaries for the later nineteenth-century newspaper(s) for Dumfries? Or do I need to be on the spot and consult the papers themselves? I'm interested in seeing if notices occur for Margaret McGowan (nee McLauchlan), who died in Dumfries 15/4/1890, and her husband William Corson McGowan, who died 18/6/1879. Since William died in Penrith, any mention of him might have taken slightly longer than normal to appear. Most grateful for any information or help.
