    3. Speaking of newspapers, I have just completed a three week survey of The Times, [London], and was very successful in doing so, garnishing at least/perhaps two-hundred entries on Griersons, Greer, Greir, Grear, McGreery, and some MacGregor. I had to work and work at it. The primary reason is that whenever you use digital archiving you have to be a little smarter than the computer....for example, I found a death notice dated April, 1788 which I never seen before. How? I didn't find it under Grierson, and the primary reason for that, is the computer can only read what is there; I found it under the keyword: LAG, and so forth with the Griersons of Dalgoner and so forth with the Griersons of Rockhall, .... Using keyword combinations, i.e. - Roek/Rcck/Hill, etc., as the computer can ONLY Read what is there, found one under Rockhull, and some under Griersun and so forth......just make a note of how some of the letters are shaped, and what other mis-matched words come up whenever sorting through them. Just a friend tip. David ________________________________________________________________ Sent via the WebMail system at mail.tqci.net --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by mail.tqci.net]
