good morning, My name is Carnegie Rain, to date I have been able to trace members of my family back to Willian Rain (b) 10 Aug 1837 (possibly Preston Lancs) Recently i received an email to the effect that his father was born in Kirkcudbright in 1815 by the name of John. However, looking at the site i can only find one person who was christened in1815 by the name John. presumably christened the same year as at birth. Off the kircudbright sight i found two William Rain one c1769 married to Mary Bell c1773 with a son John Rain 1807, and another William Rain Married to Elizabeth Stewart with a son John Rain 1815. Should you be able to throw any light on the Rain family it would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to being involved with your society, and thank you for the immediate responce. Carn.
