Good morning Chris One way of finding parents is to ascertain when they died -hopefully after 1855. A good source would be a wedding of one of their children - to see if they are still living - and another would be on the 1881 Census. The Irish literally flooded Scotland due to a) the Plantations and b) the Famines there. Just have a wee look at Glasgow in the mid-1800's. Ewan PS If I can help further please ask.
