    2. I am a new subscriber and am looking for any help I can get on my wife's family. Her 4th Great Grandfather was George Forsyth from Dumfriesshire, birth date unknown but estimated to be around 1775. He married Jemima Scott, also date unknown. They had a son Allan, born about 1804, who married a Jean (Jane) Temple, born about 1806. Allan died on 31 Jan. 1890 at Lowthortown, Dornock Parish, Dumfriesshire. They had eight children: Elizabeth, Barbara, Thomas, George, Mary, Peter, Allan and James. Christening dates are from 1830 to 1845, all listed as Graitney, Dumfries, Scotland. Elizabeth married Thomas Glendinning, born in Dumfriesshire, Scotland about 1825. They married at Haydon Bridge, Northumberland. They had six children, Jane born in Haydon Bridge, John born in Scotland and Allan, Mary, Thomas and Elizabeth, all born at Heworth, Durham, England. Allan married Elizabeth Compton and moved to the US in 1882. This is my wife's connection. Other known facts. Peter Forsyth lived in Heworth in 1861 with his sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth Forsyth and Thomas Glendinning. Some possible facts. George Forsyth may have moved to Heworth, Durham as he appears in the 1881 census on the same street as Thomas and Elizabeth Glendinning. The age is compatible. Barbara Forsyth may have married a Carruthers as a Barbara Carruthers, married, lived with Allan and Jean in Lowthortown according to the 1881 census. Birth date is compatible. James Forsyth may have stayed in Dumfriesshire as a James with a compatible birth date is listed at various places. The above information was gotten from census', Scotlandspeople.com and from the Dumfries Library and Genealogy Society that we visited this last August. After all of that, here is where I need help. I am looking for more information on George and Jemima Forsyth and also Thomas Glendinning. Hope someone can help Gratefully, Clancy Hassler
