Hi all just got back from Dumfries trying to fined my Douglas clan this might interest some one out there with a Douglas connection picked up a few bits and bobs and will post them all when I get through what is relevant and what is rubbish Clachan of Penningham Wigtownshire Here lies William Douglas in Bridgetown who died October 12 1753 age 74 years also her lies the corps of Sarah McHarg his spouse who died Feby the 20 1767 age 80 Hear lies the corpse of William Douglas their eldest son who died Wigtown 21 march 1788 age 71 and also the corpse of Jean Mckie his spouse who died march 12 1789 age 83 and also their son William Douglas who died 27 April 1805 age 60 hope this might help someone Audrey
Will save this for future reference. Thanks. Our DOUGLAS ancestor is still a mystery. Mary Douglas married William Gordon. We are told that an MI @ Carsphairn says Mary died 15 Jan 1778, William died 17 July 1783, both born circa 1724. There were 2 children: Agnes Gordon born 1762, m David McJerrow, died 1851; James Gordon died after 1783. If some one has the Carsphairn MIs would appreciate the exact wording . Does anyone know of our Mary?
