    1. Henderson, Dickson, and McOwan
    2. Hello, I am seeking the parents of Agnes Henderson who m. William Dickson and had ch: Jane Dickson b. 7 April 1856. Also, parents of William Dickson. Jane Dickson m. William McOwan in Dumfries and lived across the street from the grave of Robert Burns. Their son was Robert Henderson McOwan, Sr., my maternal grandfather. Jane Dickson McOwan followed her husband and her son to America about 1790. My grandfather and his dad had arrived about 1887 to work and establish a home. Jane came with 4 other ch and they later had 4 more. My grandfather Robert Henderson McOwan, Sr.(b. 1879 in Dumfries) went to work at age 8 on the docks of NY City making rope. Although he had very little formal education himself, he helped put his 8 siblings thru college before marrying my grandmother in 1919 and having two ch: Robert, Jr. and Clara (named for her mother). He was an avid reader and owned a complete set of Shakespeare's works. Jane Dickson and William McOwan, a master carpenter from Perthshire, raised their 9 ch in Jersey City, NJ and lived on Emory St. in a narrow house, the style of the period. Robert, Sr. was a drygoods salesman and traveled the USA for business. He stopped in NV to visit his uncle Robert Henderson of the Henderson Gold Mine Co. which ran gold mines in NV and in Canada. I believe that this man was actually his gruncle and brother to Agnes Henderson Dickson. The town of Henderson, NV was named for this family. I believe that Jane Dickson McOwan had a brother John Dickson who came to Jersey City with Jane and William McOwan had a sister Marion who m. a wealthy man and lived in Cranford, NJ. Nancy Parr in NJ----Granddaughter of Robert Henderson McOwan, Sr.
