Location: Morton Cemetery, Thornhill, Dumfriesshire Sacred to the Memory of William RAE, who died at New Street, Thornhill, 14th December 1891 in his 91st year Also his son James RAE, who died at Goldenhill, Isle of Wight, on the 18th February 1871 aged 22 years Also his daughter Martha RAE, wife of W. H. Jewell, who died at Halifax, Yorkshire, 18th June 1893 aged 34 years,interred there Also his daughter Mary RAE, wife of W. But don't let that put you off a connection, the distances aren't all that great. He died in 1838 aged 43 and is buried in New Abbey with her (died 1868) and one of their sons. This is my line (and there's a few of us about these groups!) Unfortunately we can't yet connect James to any other Gunnions though there must be siblings or cousins in the area. He & wife Mary had at least 2 children in Kirkbean in the 1820s then went to Dumfries for a while - Ruthwell & Caerlaverock. there's lots of Gunnions over there. The Jane Hamilton (nee Gunnion) was the daughter of James Gunnion and Jane Hyslop. I don't have anything in my Gunion notes about you Ellen though, sorry. Jill McKenzie, Glasgow
