I'm was curious too but not curious enogh to put the question. Earlier I posted a URL where anyone search old place name, especially those for farms that have since been absorbed by other and as a result have disappeared of the modern maps. I will post it again just in case some have missed it. _http://www.geo.ed.ac.uk/scotgaz/_ (http://www.geo.ed.ac.uk/scotgaz/) For placenames on current OS maps use: _http://www.ordsvy.gov.uk_ (http://www.ordsvy.gov.uk) If you care to browse old maps try _http://www.old-maps.co.uk/_ (http://www.old-maps.co.uk/) There is two further source for old maps. One is of the maps held by the National Library of Scotland and the other is a sort of cooperative where doners can add their old maps. Unfortunately but I have lost both URLs at present. That happens when you upgrade systems and think you have archived everything first, the find you haven't! No doubt some one will fill the gap and add the these two URLs to the list above. Cheers, Sandy
