(Mortcloths were coffin covers hired from the Kirk for the burial service, probably to hide the fact that some coffins were quite crude. Not everyone could afford the workmanship of a skilled craftsman.) Ewes OPR Deaths and burials records cover the period 1717 to 1818. If Thomas and Nancy died later than that, there are no records surviving. I must say I was surprised to find that a hundred year period could be transcribed into a small 8 page A5 booklet. There doesn't appear to be gaps in the record, so it is possible that some deaths were were recorded elswhere. This booklet is currently being prepared for publishing by DGFHS. AND I'm still looking for couple photos AND the offer of a complementary copy for whoever can supply them. Sandy
