I would love to have as much information as I can get about the place of my ancestor's birth!! IT IS PRIOR TO THE MARRIAGE THAT I AM HAVING PROBLEMS. I CAN FIND NO TRACE OF THE BIRTHS OF HUGH AND AGNES,AND NEITHER APPEAR ON THE 1851 CENSUS OF THE AREA. I have many GRIERSONS in Ruthwell, and at least one, MATTHEW, moved to Caerlaverock around 1811-21. He & his wife JANET PAGAN had at least 7 children - GEORGE, THOMAS, MARY, WILLIAM, JOHN, ROBERT & MATTHEW. David GRIERSON b. 1846 in Ruthwell married in 1873 in Cummertrees ELIZABETH EDGAR, b.c1845 but I don't know where! Do any of these sound familiar?
