Seeking Dickson/Nicholson. John & Agnes Dickson emigrated to the Falkland Islands late 1870s. Trying to trace their forbears. They were married in Haltown, Dornock on 8th Feb 1861, and had 3 children when they sailed to the Islands. Many of their descendants live there today. John was 22 and Agnes 18 at the time of their marriage. Shepherds were recruited in Dumfries in the mid 1850s for contract work in the Falklands, and many stayed on. Does anyone have details of these men. Records no longer exist in the islands.
