Hi all I would be interested to hear from Fiona, who last year wrote about the McCarmick family from Mill of Airies, 1851 Census. The head of household, James McCarmick was the husband of my second great-great aunt, Elizabeth McClelland, daughter of Hugh McClelland and Sarah Thompson, of Clutag. At the end of her posting Fiona states that James and Elizabeth had a son John James but did not know anything more. In fact, John James McCormick died aged 33, journeyman stone-mason, of Phthisis on 6 July 1877, four years before his mother. In fact, all their children, sons, died before the parents did. James McCormick lived on until 1886, when he died of Debility of Old Age, on 6 June. He had been an Inn-keeper. Can anyone tell me what inns there were in Kirkinner at that time, please? Best wishes Don Donald Craig Liverpool UK
