Hello Margaret, I found his obituary in the London Times. He went by the name "Gordon Nairne". His father was Andrew Nairne of Castle Douglas . by Isabella daughter of Robert McCartney of Dundrennan. I'll send you the obit directly. There is probably a lot about him if you do a google search. He was on the Board of Governors of the Bank of England.
