    3. Hi Brian, In 1410 I expect that the entry may be French not English. After 1066, French was the oficial language in England for several hundred years. In French Sr is an abbreviation for the title Seigneur. I gather that it refers to a sort of minor nobility - but not 100% sure. Neil Perth, Oz > Hello List. Can anyone help with the meaning of the letters Sr. entered in front of someone's name in what I take to be a printout from a 1410 O.P.R .from a Church in Yorkshire. I can't believe that it is either Sir or Snr as I have never seen Sir abbreviated or Snr likewise or in front of a name.
