Hi Norma I want to caution you about making the dangerous assumption that Thomas's birth must be one of the ones available on Scotland's people. I have been working for many years on a informal one name study of Beattie's from the border counties. It started by me trying to determine the parents of my William Beattie. In the course of my study I obtained all the christening and marriages from the OPR's which I then merged together into families. After that I filled out those families further using Monumental inscriptions, census records and any other records I could find. It soon became apparent that there were a lot more Beattie's out there than the ones that could be found in the OPR's. For frame you are interested for Dumfries barely half of the individuals are listed on a christening record. The earlier you get the less chance you have of finding them. If they were from Roxburgh or Selkirk your chances are likely about 20%. Maybe you will be lucky and yours is one of the ones that is listed but it is far from a guarantee. I have never been able to determine to my satisfaction who the parents of my William Beattie are. Good luck Sheila I Hale On 3/22/2010 4:55 AM, norma holland wrote: > Hi there folks, > > > > > > Can anyone help with my Anderson ancestors. > the furthest I have got back is Thomas Anderson who died in Kirpatrick Juxta > in 1838 aged 78 married to Catherine Marchbankof Kirkpatrick Juxta.
