I'm very interested in finding out more about John Armstrong's wife, Jean Laidlay or Lardlay. According to my Armstrong family tree, our John Armstrong married "Lady" Armstrong. I'm wondering if it was really Laidlay or Lardlay or something similar? Can you tell me anymore about the records for them in Dryfesdale parish? Their (?) son James is my gggggrandfather. Thank you so much! The thought - - - Laidlay/Lardlay could represent Laidlaw A bit more definite . . . . There was a monumental inscription recorded from Dryfesdale in the 1960s which was in memory of Janet Portes and also James Card, her husband. Portes was the actual inscription made by the mason - noted by the transcriber. I have fuller details if required. My comment - - - - could be for Porteous and Caird.
