The following email is the resultStan, of Stan having sent me a copy of the register and me looking at it in Photoshop. I feel that it is self-explanatory. "The image has a very low resolution of only 96 pixels/inch, and it starts to break down at 200% magnification. When I do this myself I prefer to work at 600 dpi which many consider to be overkill, but it allows me to view the images at 600% magnification nicely. When I took it up to 400% magnification it appears that there may have been an attempt to either add a "t" which was then crossed out or write a middle initial which was then crossed out. As I look at the "e"s in other words the writer continues onto the next letter without any break; however, one can see what appears to be a break at the end of the "e" in her name. Let me see if I can isolate this at 400% magnification and attach it...OK, I made 2 copies at 400% magnification. On the second one I circled what appears to be a break at the end of the letter "e". Do you agree with me on this? I also increased the size of the crop to 8"x10" to make it easier to view. Good hunting," To which Stan replied: "Thanks for your hard work, much appreciated. I hadn't thought of the middle initial idea, but that is something to consider. Could be a I agree with you that there appears to be a break at the end of the "e". Whatever comes after the "e" appears to be foreign to the natural flow of the writer. Whatever it is, seems to slope to the left rather than to the right. Most bizarre. It is almost as if the writer originally wrote the word "James" (the father's name) and then attempted to cross out the "s". I think the only solution is for me to see the original, even if just for a 96 pixels/inch photo shot for you to examine! By all means publish your thoughts to the list. Kind regards" Good hunting to all, Cliff. Johnston "May the best you've ever seen, Be the worst you'll ever see;" from A Scots Toast by Allan Ramsay ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cliff.
