    3. Hello listers Many thanks to Sandy and others who have replied to me. Local knowledge always pays off and it was fascinating to read about the YOP survey of the MIs in Durisdeer. I suppose that the question to ask is whether or not the survey was all inclusive. If it was then my next question is one about other churchyards which were in use in the early to mid 1880s. Does anyone know the whereabouts of any? In the meantime I am trying to contact my original source for more specific information. Many thanks once again. 3. Hi Jeff Sometimes you need to think about where the family might have a grave. In order to bury someone (unless they were paupers) the family had to purchase a grave. Sometimes that was to bury an infant child (there was a high infant mortality) Years later, when it came to burying the parents they made use of the grave they already owned. It pays to look in the parishes they lived at over the years. Best wishes Ian A McClumpha Need help with your Scottish Family History research? Let Imchad Ancestry assist you.
