Hi Pat I think this will be Highbanks, in Kirkcudbright parish. It lies between Kirkcudbright and Balmaclellan in the area known as Bombie. I had relatives who lived there in the 1950s. His wife Grace died at the property 9/7/1837 and he died there also 16/1/1841. I have the 1841 Census where his youngest son James was a farmer living with wife Catherine. His eldest sister Grace was also living there. I think his father was a John Rigg (Born abt 1732 died 9/3/1811 Buttle). I don't have any information on his mother or his siblings so would be interested to find out this information also.
