........All the Commissariot records are with the National Archives of Scotland, and the online index to the wills and testaments is available free of charge on the scotlandspeople website. There are published indexes for each Commissariot for the 17th century. I have many of them, if you want a check done: tell me the location where the deceased would have been living when he made the will. Gordon Johnson.............. Gordon, Could you please check for George Lorimer (Lotimer/Latimer) born Keir /Penpoint Dumfries 1761/66 died 8 March 1830 in Whytegate Dumfries. Don't know where he is buried, His wife was Susannah Murray born 1763, died 8 may 1819 Newmains Dumfries, she and some of their children are buried in Keir Cemetery Their son James Lorimer / Lotimer born 27 May 1787 Keir Dumfries, died 17 Sept 1809 in Port Royal Jamaica, he is noted on a head stone in Keir Cemetery, would he have a will registered in Scotland?
