    3. I wonder if anyone on the list can point me in the right direction with my research into my brother's death which happened near Lockerbie in 1976. I am struggling with difference in the coroners system and have no idea where I can get any more information My brother Graham Roscoe Walsh was born, married and lived in Bolton Lancashire but died in Scotland near Lockerbie on 29/8/1976. He was travelling north on the A74 going on holiday. I understand he parked his car and went across the dual carriageway to retrieve a hub cap that had come off the car and was involved in an accident and was knocked down and died immediately. His children were young at the time and now would like to know more about what happened and as I do family research they have asked me to help. Had the accident happened in England there would have been an inquest and I would have known where to get the information. However I know that there are not inquests in Scotland and while I have looked on the internet I haven't been able to find out what would be available or where I would be best to write to etc. I do have a copy of the 'Extract of an entry in a Register of Deaths' for Graham which I assume is the equivalent of the English death certificate. >From the information I have read on the internet I thought there might have been a reference to the 'Register of Corrected Entries' on the death certificate but there isn't anything on the copy that I have. It would seem strange not to have had some formal proceedings following a fatal road accident but I am very much a novice on procedures in Scotland. Could anyone tell me what the procedure would have been in Scotland and where I could write to get more detailed information / copies of any paperwork that would be available Kind regards Linda Hindley

    3. I imagine a report would have been lodged with the Procurator Fiscal, Linda. http://www.copfs.gov.uk/About/Departmental-Overview/Area-Procurator-Fiscal/Dumfries-Galloway-Offices Iain ----- Original Message ----- From: "Linda Hindley" <linda.hindley7@ntlworld.com> To: <DUMFRIES-GALLOWAY@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 10, 2010 10:59 PM Subject: [DUMFRIES-GALLOWAY] Road traffic accident in Lockerbie > > I wonder if anyone on the list can point me in the right direction with my > research into my brother's death which happened near Lockerbie in 1976.
