Hi Mary Further to David's answer, there are Whitehlls in Hutton & Corrie parish, Hoddam parish, Kirkmahoe parish, (quite likely to be the one you want)and Middliebie parish. There are probably others that have disappeared. Whitehills in Castle-Douglas would not be yours, if the address was Dumfries. Perhaps those of you familiar with the area can help me... My question is: Could this be one in the same, or part of, Whitehill Cottages, Dumfries in which farm workers may have lived? My g'mother, Mary Campbell Mcdonald was born at Whitehill Cottages, Dumfries in April of 1898. Her family members were all labourers. Thanks so much!
