Hello All, Jim Patterson in Western Canada connecting, I am in need of some experienced advice and guidance that is unrelated to our Wigs or Dumfries lists as I have a situation in England with a relative (first Cousin once removed) that is causing me heartachesJ My cousin was born in 1945 near the end of the war in an English southerly village, sadly his mother my Gt Aunt died in the process due to complications. It was my Gt Aunts slightly older sister who helped in the birth as there were no doctors available at that time and location due to wartime. At the time just before the birth my Gt Aunt had run away from her husband as he was not a "good man", and was continuing with a long term extra marital affair for more that 3 years prior to the birth of his son. After the death my Gt Aunt was buried in Gloucestershire where the husband was from and birth family. The son survived and was raised by my Gt Aunt who attended the birth for his first 20-24 months and then out of the blue the father arrived one day with his new wife on his arm and took his son away who was never heard of again by close kin. The Boy found out when age 9 that his birth mum had died and the only Mum he knew was his step Mum.. The son only had the small birth record all his life so on my advice purchased a full birth certificate which showed he was born in a Gloucestershire Hospital close to where his Dad lived. I have told my cousin to get a Death certificate for his Mum which should show the place of death but as the father had much to hide may have registered the birth and death as he wanted them to be? As there was no Doctor present I would assume a Doctor would be called to write the death certificate and a Coroner's report would be required after a PM, so there would be a Coroner's report somewhere? This boy sadly was not looked after and was like his Mum also subject to the reason his birth mum fled and upon the death bed of his step Mum she said you weren't wanted and were not my child so are not in my will. With this info in mind I want to do everything I can to help this cousin find the truth and have reconnected him to his birth family now and all is well but I was not ready to give up quite yetJ I traced my Gt Aunts oldest and best friend who is still alive at 90 and very bright. The friend confirmed the birth where our kin said it occurred and not in the hospital as the certificate suggests. Confirmed her friend had to flee due to a very abusive situation. Confirmed burial in Gloucestershire of my Gt Aunt. Confirmed where my Cousin was born as well as she was in close contact with her best friend until the day she fled. Now, if anyone has advice as to how I can prove the birth occurred in Bristol rather that Gloucestershire as per the certificate and any other guidance or advice all will be greatly appreciated one and allJ I am most grateful that you read this request and thank you all for any leads, snippets of info you may suggestJ Cheers Aye Jim Patterson
