    3. Hi Lesley: A bit of what you would find if you purchase the full records: England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations),1861-1941 Record for Robert Donaldson Dickson England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations),1861-1941: 4 June The Confirmation of the Commissariot of Dumfries dated 30 May 1874 of Joseph Dickson, Printer & Publisher, of Loreburn Street, Dumfries, & Mrs. Isabella Dickson or Easton of 58 English Street, Dumfries, Widow, as Executors Dative qua Next of Kin of Robert Donaldson Dickson, Dumfries, Sailor, who latterly sailed in the Merchant Ship "Kalamazoo" trading between England and America, who was drowned near New Orleans about the beginning of 1847.(---the entry does say 1847 instead of 1874, perhaps the person who did the transcription mixed up his birth and death years?) So I started looking for Mrs. Isabella Dickson or Easton and found: 1861 Scotland Census Name: Walter Easton Age: 44 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1817 Relationship: Head Spouse's name : Isabella Easton Gender: Male Where born: Dumfries, Dumfriesshire Registration Number: 821 Registration district: Dumfries Civil parish: Dumfries St Mary County: Dumfriesshire Address: 60 Pleasance ED: 13 Household schedule number: 60 Page: 11 Line: 11 Roll: CSSCT1861_143 Household Members: Name Age Walter Easton Head 44 Married born Dumfries, Dfs Occupation: Printer & Publisher Dumfries & Galloway Standard News Paper Isabella Easton Wife 48 married born Carlaverock, Dumfriesshire Scotland Deaths: 1862 EASTON WALTER M DUMFRIES /DUMFRIES 821/00 0261 Walter Easton, Printer & Publisher, married to Isabella Dickson, died at ____ Close, High Street, Dumfries on August 8, 1862, age 47 years, cause is hard to read, informant is John Dickson, ______??, Dumfries (I think), Nephew, present. Box for names of parents is blank. I can send you the original if you want it. I think that the Walter _____ on Samuel's death reg, brother-in-law, is Walter Easton, not Walter C____. Try the Glasgow or Dumfries newspapers for obits for Walter, and perhaps Samuel, since Walter was a newspaper printer & publisher, there was likely an obit somewhere. Check cemetery transcripts for his burial and Isabella's. I couldn't find her death reg. 1851 Scotland Census Name: Robert Dickson Age: 3 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1848 Relationship: Son Father's Name: Samuel Dickson Mother's Name: Ann Dickson Gender: Male Where born: Town, Dumfries Parish Number: 821 Civil parish: Dumfries Town: Dumfries County: Dumfriesshire Address: Queen Street ED: 13 Page: 2 (click to see others on page) Household schedule number: 2/3 Line: 5 Roll: CSSCT1851_206 Household Members: Name Age Samuel Dickson 38 Ann Dickson 33 Robert Dickson 3 James Dickson 1 Ann Barber 19 1861 Scotland Census Robt Dickson Age: 14 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1847 Relationship: Son Mother's Name: Ann Dickson Gender: Male Where born: Dumfries Registration Number: 821 Registration district: Dumfries Civil parish: Dumfries St Mary Town: Dumfries County: Dumfriesshire Address: High Street Occupation: Steampacket Clerk ED: 10 Household schedule number: 66 Line: 2 Roll: CSSCT1861_143 Household Members: Name Age Ann Dickson 43 Robt Dickson 14 Ann Dickson 10 Joseph Dickson 8 William Dickson 5 Thomas Dickson 2 1871 Scotland Census Name: Robert Dickson Age: 24 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1847 Relationship: Son Mother's Name: Annie Dickson Gender: Male Where born: Dumfries, Dumfries Registration Number: 821/1 Registration district: Dumfries Burgh Civil parish: Dumfries Town: Dumfries County: Dumfriesshire Address: 26 High St (close) Occupation: Sailer ED: 12 Household schedule number: 74 Line: 19 Roll: CSSCT1871_183 Household Members: Name Age Annie Dickson 51 Robert Dickson 24 Annie Dickson 19 Joseph Dickson 18 William Dickson 14 Thomas Dickson 11 Marg in Sunny Alberta On Sun, Apr 10, 2011 at 2:57 AM, Lesley Fiedler <[email protected]> wrote: > I am trying to find info on John Dickson who married  Mary Thorburn but have not had any success and wonder if any researchers of  the same surnames have come across anything > > I know from death cert  of his son  Dumfries jeweller Samuel Donaldson Dickson's  1811-1859 , that his father  was a Blacksmith named   John Dickson and his Mother was Mary Thorburn ………… The informant was  brother in- law Walter C------ ?  cant make it out ? 136 High Street Dumfries > >  1841 census has  Samuel  & Ann in Queensbury Street > > > John DICKSON (1784 - ) >  John  +.
