Additional Notes on Johns father William CARRUTHERS : Had Sasaine of Guillyburn (Kirkmahoe?) : East side of the watermilk 14 acres + Middleshaw park 8 acres North of Middleshaw farm St Mungo. There is conjecture as to where Guillyburn farm is situated and I stand corrected: I believe it is just above Duncow Village, in the heart of Kirkmahoe, Dumfriesshire. Just to the East of the Duncow River. Some say it is/was in St Mungo. Will be interested in anyone else's direction on this. The 1841 census reffers to Guillyburn, Kirkmahoe.
